FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol – a quite popular method of transmitting files between a PC and a server. With an FTP program such as CuteFTP or FileZilla, you can set up a connection to the server and see its content in one pane, whereas the files on your computer will be displayed in another pane within the program window. All it takes to send files or entire directories in either direction is to mark them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. File Transfer Protocol is preferred by lots of users because you can create different FTP accounts and each one can be limited to access just one single folder on the server, so a web designer, for example, can fulfill their task without being able to view any other directory in your web hosting account. Also, the presence of different FTP accounts will also enable you to create multiple websites with web design applications such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver and to upload them to their specific directories on the server.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting

You will be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you need with any of the cloud plans that we’re offering, as we have chosen not to limit this service. In this way, you can run numerous sites all at once or provide other individuals with access to multiple directories. Once a specific job has been completed and you would not like that individual to be able to connect to your files any longer, you can modify the password for the specific FTP account or you can simply remove that account with a few clicks and quit worrying about someone using it again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared web hosting accounts, will allow you to see the complete list of the existing FTP accounts displayed alphabetically. It takes just one click of the mouse to manage various options for any of them – to edit the password or the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your sites under a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to create a separate FTP account for any of them, as we have not set a limit on this service with any of our semi-dedicated packages. You can do this through the FTP section of our intuitive Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the full list of all the FTP accounts that you have created, together with the folder that each one can access. If necessary, you’ll be able to modify the password for a specific account or to update its access path with a couple of mouse clicks. You can also delete an account without effort in case you no longer require it – for instance, if you have hired a web designer who is done with the website and you don’t want them to be able to access your files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we have prepared a number of instructional videos, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without effort in case you’ve never used a hosting service before.
